Everyone seems to have the secret or program to get founders funded. There’s accelerators, paid programs, free programs, pitch competitions, courses put on by VCs to learn, etc. When I was younger, I ate all of this stuff up. Now that I’m several years into tech, I realize that’s it’s truly all about relationships. And although this is bad news for out of network founders, I don’t believe anything can replace a context built up between two individuals via shared experiences. Instead of trying to “hack” the fundraise, maybe we can just make having those experiences more accessible to founders.
